My name is Kelly, and I'm a
Like many college seniors, I'm slightly terrified of being thrust into the real world. But I'm excited to become an official "grown-up"in May of 2013.
This blog began as a way to link my two biggest passions in life- sports and baking. Last summer (2011), I worked as a sports intern at one of Washington DC's top television stations, and I used this blog (formerly known as "Sugar Baby Sports") to write about stories we covered. When the internship ended, I decided to shift the focus of this blog to baking, hence the name change. I will keep my sports-related posts up, as it was a big part of the first phase of this blog. However, my posts will now exclusively be baking-related.
I'm a bit of a baking fiend, as you might have noticed. My roommates, friends and family all complain on a regular basis that I'm making them fat and tell me to stop baking for them, but then they eat my Konfections anyway :)
Kelly's Konfections is my outlet for baking, writing, creativity and photography. I'm still new to the whole "food photography" thing, so I'm a work in progress. Please bear with me as I learn all the tricks of the trade :)
I've struggled with migraines for the last two years, and have just recently gotten my life back. I doubt I'll ever have as much energy as I had before the migraines started, but my life and health have definitely turned a corner.
I spent this summer (2012) in London studying abroad, and it changed my life. I had a fantastic internship, made lots of new friends, and got to see the awesomest city in the world and its gorgeous country. There are some British baked goods that I've posted, and there will be more.
My baking goals/bucket list for this school year include: macarons, sculpted cakes, tarts, ice cream, baked alaska, decorated cookies, and the classically British Eton Mess.
